Magnus Quaife is an artist and curator. His practice considers the recirculation and re-imagination of images and forms in the art world and beyond. The emergence of myths as collective cultural and political memory are often the focus of this work. The practice manifests itself across the mediums of painting, print and video, and since 2008 he has been involved in collaborative projects that have also used installation, sound, and collaboration in itself as the manifestation of the practice.
As a curator he was a founder of the BMCA (Blackpool Museum of Contemporary Art). Borrowing from Malraux it was described as a museum without walls and the whole of the town was claimed as its site. Since 2011 he has been the director of Malgras|Naudet an artist led space in Manchester that arose out of the collaborative projects he initiated.
